When I joined the UC Davis pediatric otolaryngology faculty, one of my goals was to grow our hearing and speech services for children in the greater Sacramento and Central California area I grew up in. I wanted to make sure local families had access to state-of-the-art medical communication services, but in practice had so much to learn about the educational side of listening and spoken language. I was first introduced to CCHAT by patient families and have been a delighted learner, supporter, and collaborator ever since. Our pediatric team at UC Davis is incredibly lucky to be a part of patients' journeys, and watching our kids and families thrive as part of the larger CCHAT community has been truly rewarding.
