Hi! My name is Kara Smith, and I started as CCHAT’s Development Associate in March of 2018. I am thrilled to be working for an organization and alongside passionate staff who are changing the lives of children who are deaf and hard of hearing! For most of my life, I’ve benefited from hearing aids. When I learned about CCHAT’s mission and job opportunity, I felt compelled to get involved. It is important to me that the children who come through our doors feel supported, empowered and are getting the best education possible so that they can succeed in life and fulfill their dreams. Everyone needs to learn about the great work happening at CCHAT Center, and I want to help make that happen!
From a professional perspective, I have been working in Sacramento’s nonprofit community for about ten years, most recently with the homeless community and environmental education. Through this, I have gained a wealth of experience in the development arena including – fundraising, community outreach and event planning. In my free time, I enjoy being outside – hiking, kayaking or just taking walks around my neighborhood. I’m a big college sports fan and love checking out live music in the Sacramento area. When I am in the office, my home base will be in the Development office so please stop by and say hello!
